Somo is the Spanish beach that hosts the most surfing events per year — more than 20 competitions annually, including local, national and international events.

Surfing Stock's Fair
Somo Skateboarding Championship
Surf and Music Festival of the Cantabra Surf School (last weekend of August, with 14 editions in 2023).
The municipality also built skateparks in Somo and Loredo, reinforcing the connection between urban culture and surfing.
