LACANAU
CITY
The town of Lacanau is located on the Atlantic coast of the Médoc, 40 km from Bordeaux, a 2.5-hour train ride from Paris, and 30 minutes from Bordeaux Mérignac airport. It boasts an extraordinary landscape, 16 km of ocean coastline, and exceptional natural conditions: a lake with impeccable water quality and ideal conditions for water skiing.
The development of the city and its three key areas provides numerous new community facilities, perfect for welcoming a rejuvenated population. In fact, the city currently offers many sporting, cultural, educational, and leisure infrastructures, including:

It is undeniable that Lacanau possesses the legacy of surfing and skateboarding. Located in the heart of miles of sandy beaches and abundant surf amidst nature, Lacanau is a driving force not only for surfing in Gironde, but also for French and European surfing.
The Lacanau Surf Club has been "shaking up surf culture" since the 1950s. Officially established in 1967, the surfing community immediately embraced it, and since 1979 it has been organizing internationally renowned championships. Furthermore, in the early 1990s, Lacanau organized one of the first Waveski competitions, which, along with the nautical stadium in Pitrotto that hosts several world championships, earned it significant international recognition.
Lacanau has extensive experience in organizing major competitions: Lacanau Pro, Lacanau Gliss Festival, and Euro Sup, in addition to holding the "Surf City" designation.
Regarding the historical dynamism of this location, it was here that Rico Leroy and Jérémy Boisson created the International Tandem Surfing Federation (ITSA - International Tandem Surfing Association) in 2005, where it is currently headquartered.
