TRAINING

Sustainable development in Huanchaco is supported by training programs aimed at empowering the local community and preserving its unique heritage. The training focuses on two main pillars: sport and heritage conservation.

KEY TRAINING AREAS:

  • Sports Training for Young People: Local surf schools and camps offer regular sports training and development programs for young talent, from junior categories to the professional level, ensuring the city's continued presence in competitions such as the Longboard Pro Perú .

  • Training in Tourism Services: Training is crucial to raise the quality of accommodation, surf coaching and guiding services (including surf trip guides to places like Chicama), professionalizing the local tourism offer to international standards.

  • Environmental and Heritage Education: The World Surfing Reserve (WSR) actively promotes educational programs on the conservation of the totora reed ecosystem and the cultural and biological importance of the marine environment. This training is aimed at fishermen, artisans, students, and tourism operators, ensuring that ancestral knowledge of the sea is transmitted and applied in modern management.

  • Training in the Construction of Totora Reed Boats : Specific programs work to preserve the art of building totora reed boats , transmitting the traditional techniques of master artisans to new generations, integrating the craft into the dynamics of tourism and culture in the city.
