SAN BARTOLO
EVENTS
San Bartolo has a long and prestigious history on the Peruvian surfing competition calendar. The tradition of hosting competitions dates back to 1972, when Peñascal beach hosted its first championship, establishing the district as a stage for high-level competition in Peru.
Key National Events: The city regularly hosts several stages of the national circuit, organized by FENTA (National Board Surfing Federation). The consistency and character of the local surf breaks ensure that San Bartolo is an essential stop for determining national champions.
Grassroots Circuits (Seedbeds) : The community strongly invests in youth development, hosting events such as the Semilleros Olas Peru Championship. These championships are vital for identifying and developing new talent, including the young local surfers mentioned in the THE CITY section.
International Potential: The city's reputation, its surf camp infrastructure, and its easy access from Lima position it as an ideal location for hosting regional international events (such as ALAS circuits) and WSCN cooperation meetings, taking advantage of the diversity of waves ranging from beach breaks to challenging point breaks.
