San Bartolo demonstrates a growing commitment to the social and environmental dimensions of surfing, integrating the sport as a driver of community development and public health.
Inclusion and Social Development Program : The City Council and the Municipal Bodyboarding School actively promote access to the sport. The program benefits 26 children and young people with year-round lessons, ensuring continuous athletic development and social integration through bodyboarding . This initiative provides participants with a safe environment, specialized coaching , and the development of physical and disciplinary skills.
Environmental Education and Community Health : San Bartolo 's commitment to having all its beaches considered healthy is a crucial public health initiative, involving water quality management and coastal cleanup. This work ensures that the marine environment is safe not only for high-level competition (such as the historic championship in Peñascal), but also for community training and leisure activities.
