Salinas ' main interest is to consolidate itself globally as a sports tourism destination, with surfing as the main attraction. The city seeks not only to reinforce its role on the international surfing scene, but also to diversify its offerings by promoting other sports such as cycling, diving, kayaking, beach tennis, and bird and whale watching – activities that are already expanding.

To achieve this goal, Salinas intends to strengthen strategic alliances with the other member cities of the World Surf Cities Network (WSCN), benefiting from similar management models and best practices that can be adapted locally. International cooperation is seen as an essential tool for achieving sustainable development.

At the same time, the city is committed to improving the quality of its tourism offerings and safety, integrating efforts between local and national authorities (City Hall, Municipalities, Ministries), sports clubs, surf schools, and sector representatives. The goal is to develop projects that bring real benefits to the community, positioning Salinas as a global benchmark in sports and sustainable tourism, with surfing at the heart of its identity.
