Over the past 5 years, the surf industry in Arica has experienced explosive growth in private investment compared to previous years.

Also in relation to instruments for promoting production geared towards the sector, this has meant tripling the total investment in the last 3 years compared to the last decade, especially in accommodation and themed gastronomy, as well as in the increase in surf schools and sports/social clubs.

However, there is no consolidated supply regarding the manufacturing and fabrication of equipment, clothing and footwear (retail), which generally represents the largest pillar supporting this dynamic industry. This is due to competitive gaps compared to our neighboring countries, mainly in raw materials and technological advances in industrial machinery.
