Surfing in the city began in the 1950s with the Artetxe brothers, and since then, big names like Marta Huércanos, Pablo Postigo, Iñigo Iraola, Oskar Garcia, Beñat Elosua, Kepa Alvarez, Borja Agote, and Norman Landa have been great representatives of San Sebastián surfing in all kinds of international events.
Its location, surrounded by good surf breaks such as Mundaka, Meñakoz, Punta Galea, Zarautz, Hossegor or Anglet, within a 1-hour radius, and its attractive leisure options make Donostia the ideal place to enjoy surfing on the Basque Coast.
