SURF CARE
Salinas , a leading surfing destination in Ecuador, has played a nationally prominent role in surf management and development, also standing out in social responsibility and environmental impact projects. The city has developed initiatives aimed at improving the quality of services and promoting sustainable surf tourism.
FEATURED INITIATIVES
Mingas por el Mar : A self-managed social project, led by surfers and supported by local and national authorities, that promotes awareness about the care, maintenance, and cleaning of beaches.
Ocean School : A program developed by surfers from Salinas and Ecuador, focused on education about the sea and its preservation, with training and awareness-raising activities for the community.
Project of the Municipality of Santa Elena – Surf Peninsula : An initiative that integrates the cantons of Santa Elena, Libertad, and Salinas, using surfing as a tool for tourism and social development, while simultaneously promoting environmental conservation and coastal protection policies.
Other actions include enforcing the Wave Protection Law, the active participation of surf schools in beach cleanups, and the development of social inclusion projects through surfing.
