Manta's strategic interest in the WSCN focuses on developing surfing in an organized way and consolidating the activity as an economic and social driver.

The main objectives include:

  • Regional Surf Promotion:
    To position the surf from Manta's beach breaks and nearby point breaks (like San Mateo) to compete internationally with other Pacific destinations.

  • Coastal and Sports Management :
    Learn and apply beach management models specifically designed for surfing that balance strong port activity with the sporting and recreational use of the coast.

  • Development of the Service Industry :
    To encourage the creation of more businesses and services directly related to surfing (such as shapers and surf camps), taking advantage of the warm water climate and consistent waves.
