ARICA | A calendar of activities and sporting events has been presented in order to position Arica as the Capital of Sport 2019. The aim of this programme is to show the perfect conditions of this city and region to practise outdoor sports.
With a colourful party at the foot of Morro rock in the city of Arica, the Regional Government along with the Regional Council and the “Arica Always Active” Tourism Transformation Programme presented a calendar of activities that will turn the northern region of Chile into the centre of sport throughout the year.
“Como sport and tourism can be excellent allies to raise awareness of such a beautiful area”. This is how adamant the national swimmer and reigning world champion in icy waters, Barbará Hernández, was as the main figure at the official launch of the “Arica Capital of Sport 2019” calendar.
This initiative, the purpose of which is to show that the region has the natural, heritage, historical and cultural characteristics for physical activity all year round, is complemented with FNDR resources thanks to the support of the Regional Government and the Regional Council.
